Allison Dunning
Allison Dunning is a passionate mental health advocate and practitioner with years of experience in the non-profit sector. As a leader in the Peer Support Community in Canada, Allison is committed to supporting organizations that are looking to initiate, or improve upon existing Peer Support Programs to support the mental health of clients, and change the mental health landscape. With extensive experience developing, supervising, evaluating and executing Peer Support Programs, Allison approaches this work with a dedication to ensuring programs are aligned with the evidence-based best practices of peer support, while also fostering collaborative and supportive environments for staff and stakeholders.
Allison is a Certified Mentor with Peer Support Canada, a Registered Social Service Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and identifies as an individual with lived experience with mental illness. She has significant experience building and supporting various Peer Support programs across Canada in a range of settings, and is excited to bring this expertise to other organizations.

Allison is a registered Social Service Worker with the OCSWSSW in good standing. Allison completed her SSW Diploma at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
B.A. Honours Psychology and Honours Sociology
Allison completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Allison graduated from the program as the Canadian Sociological Association Outstanding Graduate of the Year.
YouthREX Youth Program Evaluation Certificate
Allison successfully completed the certificate program and applied the YouthREX Evaluation Framework to a custom created Peer Support Program for Stella's Place Assessment and Treatment Centre.
Peer Support Canada, Certified Peer Support Mentor
Allison has successfully completed the Peer Support Canada Certification process as both a Certified Peer Support Worker, and a Certified Peer Support Mentor. As a member of the PSC Mentorship committee, Allison collaboratively informs the organizations’ strategic direction and works to ensure that PSC is operating in line with the principles of peer support.
Peer Support Supervision Training, Centre for Innovation in Peer Support
Allison has completed training from the Centre for Innovation in Peer Support on best practices and approaches to effectively supervising Peer Support Workers.
